Environmental Assessment
Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment
form an integral part of present day planning policy. Environmental
Impact Assessment considers the effect of a planning proposal
upon aspects of the physical environment including soil, water
and air and advises on mitigation. Consultations are undertaken
during the scoping process, quantified during technical studies
and further consultation, and finally presented in an Environmental
Statement.
Environmental Assessment is an extension of Impact Assessment
beyond the planning process into construction and the development
of land management programmes which provide mitigation and
compensation. These in turn provide a process for resource
management and environmental planning directed towards the
achievement of sustainable development principles.
PBA have considerable experience in the assessment
of potential impacts upon the physical environment and the
subsequent development of mitigating measures and sustainable
resource management.
PBA are members of the Institute of Environmental
Management & Assessment.
